Very poor service!
I have been to Beauty Works Scotland a number of times to get my hair highlighted and cut. The first time I went with a Groupon voucher and from then on they sold me a voucher at the end of every visit for a highlight and cut. I have never had a problem with the stylists, they have always done a great job. On my last visit at the end of April, the hairdresser sold me a voucher for £35. The vouchers have always been valid for 3 months and there was no mention of this changing.
When I phoned up the salon the other day to book an appointment the stylist told me that the business had moved to Penicuik and that all vouchers expired at the end of June. She told me that I should have been told this and that the premises was moving. This was not mentioned at all during my 2.5 hour appointment in April. The stylist asked me to phone the owner of the shop Tracy.
I called Tracey and she told me that all her stylists had been told to pass this onto customers as they knew they were moving. I kept repeating to her that they did not tell me, I wouldn’t have bought a voucher if I had known. She told me that it was on her Facebook page which I have no need to follow and she said it was on her website ( I have checked and she hasn’t updated her website). Tracey has left me £35 out of pocket. All she could do was keep apologising and saying that there was nothing she could do. I asked for a refund and she told me that they no longer have shop premises and a card machine so can’t refund me. She told me that she doesn’t owe me anything because the voucher expires at the end of June. She does owe me because the stylist never told me that the voucher expired earlier. Another frustrating point is that when I bought this last voucher she put the price up by £5.
The next day my partner phoned Tracy up and asked her for a cash refund or services to the value of £35. She told him that she doesn’t owe me anything as my voucher has expired. She then said that she would phone back in 5 minutes and when my partner said that he was going to work and that it needed to be sorted out now, she hung up the phone on him and then didn't call back!
I think it was an awful way of dealing with a customer and shows that she wasn’t actually sorry. Leaving me £35 out of pocket. I planned to book through them for my wedding day hair and makeup but I am now steering well clear of them, they can’t be trusted!
